We offer a afterschool club to children attending Cherry Hinton Primary School from our base at Colville Primary School. We also offer a holiday club to all children from our other site based at Queen Edith Primary School.
Cherry Hinton children are collected from Cherry Hinton Primary School at the end of the school day by a CKC staff member via a walking bus.
KS1 (Reception, Year 1, 2 and 3), children are collected from their class teacher at the end of the school day. KS2 (Year 4, 5, 6) children are collected from a meeting point in the school (the school reception area), they are then expected to make their own way to the meeting point from their classes. The afterschool club staff will go through the daily register at the meeting point to ensure all children have been collected, before walking children back to Colville Primary School where the afterschool club is based.

What the club offers:
We are a self-directed PLAY based provision.
“Play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated. That is, children and young people determine and control the content and intent of their play, by following their own instincts, ideas and interests, in their own way for their own reasons.”
This is very different from the classroom environment, which can be (and sometimes needs to be) a very structured environment. We believe that after a long day at school or term of learning, children want to come to us to have fun and freedom in an unstructured self motivated way. Children will learn skills that they need in the growing up process, but in a different way to school.
The After School Club
After School Club operates from the end of the School day to either 4:30pm or 6pm, Key Stage 1 children will be collected from their classrooms by a playworker and key stage 2 children will be expected to make their own way to the afterschool club (internally through the school).
After School Snack: We provide all children with a light snack around 4pm, examples of what we offer include soup, wraps, yoghurts, fruit, squash and water.
Children who attend an extra circular club at the school will be collected by a playworker if they are in KS1 or from Cherry Hinton Primary School, and a snack will be offered to them when they arrive at the after school club.
The Holiday Club
We offer a holiday club from our CKC @ Queen Edith's setting, which is approximately 10 mins away. The holiday club operates from 8am – 6pm with a full and varied programme of activities and trips. Each week has a theme to it and the activities and outings are based around that theme. This will be emailed out to you around 6 weeks before the start of the holiday for you to book the specific days. For children staying all day, a mid-morning snack and a light afternoon snack is provided. We ask you to provide a pack lunch.

Parent Partnership
Parents are at liberty to spend time with their children at any time during the sessions provided that it does not unsettle the child. The Club Leader, The After-School Co-ordinator and the director are always ready to discuss your child's progress and deal with any concerns you may have.
Each month we circulate a newsletter providing parents with up-to-date information on what is going on within the Cambridge Kids Club and matters of general interest.
The Club has formulated a set of policies relating to its approach towards issues such as anti-discrimination, child abuse, staff selection etc. Please feel free to ask for a set of these policies that will, in any case, be provided upon your enrolling your child.
Parents are encouraged to offer their time to take a session at the Club should they have any expertise or special interest which the children might enjoy hearing about.
