Club Address: Histon and Impington Brook Primary School, The Green, Histon, Cambridge, CB24 9JA

Location in school

The club is based on the school grounds, in a classroom. The entrance is round the left hand side of the school of the main school reception. There is a bell to ring for access and a staff member will come to meet you at the gates.

Parking

You can park in the school grounds, when dropping or collecting your child/children.

What the club offers:

We are a self-directed PLAY based provision.

Play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated. That is, children and young people determine and control the content and intent of their play, by following their own instincts, ideas and interests, in their own way for their own reasons.

This is very different from the classroom environment, which can be (and sometimes needs to be) a very structured environment. We believe that after a long day at school or term of learning, children want to come to us to have fun and freedom in an unstructured self motivated way. Children will learn skills that they need in the growing up process, but in a different way to school.

The After School Club

After School Club operates from the end of the School day to either 4:30pm or 6pm, Key Stage 1 children will be collected from their classrooms by a playworker and key stage 2 children will be expected to make their own way to the afterschool club (internally through the school).

After School Snack: We provide all children with a light snack around 4pm, examples of what we offer include soup, wraps, yoghurts, fruit, squash and water.

Children who attend an extra circular club at the school will be collected by a playworker and a snack will be offered  to them when they arrive at the after school club.

The Holiday Club

We offer a holiday club from our CKC @ St Luke's setting, which is approximately 15 mins away. The holiday club operates from 8am – 6pm with a full and varied programme of activities and trips. Each week has a theme to it and the activities and outings are based around that theme. This will be emailed out to you around 6 weeks before the start of the holiday for you to book the specific days. For children staying all day, a mid-morning snack and a light afternoon snack is provided. We ask you to provide a pack lunch.

FAQ

Parent Partnership

Parents are at liberty to spend time with their children at any time during the sessions provided that it does not unsettle the child. The Club Leader, The After-School Co-ordinator and the director are always ready to discuss your child's progress and deal with any concerns you may have.

Each month we circulate a newsletter providing parents with up-to-date information on what is going on within the Cambridge Kids Club and matters of general interest.

The Club has formulated a set of policies relating to its approach towards issues such as anti-discrimination, child abuse, staff selection etc. Please feel free to ask for a set of these policies that will, in any case, be provided upon your enrolling your child.

Parents are encouraged to offer their time to take a session at the Club should they have any expertise or special interest which the children might enjoy hearing about.

What Parents and Ofsted Say About Us

Parents are very happy with the care and support their children receive. They say that their children are often reluctant to go home at the end of the day

Ofsted at CKC @ Cherry Hinton

January 2017

Children are happy and settled. They build positive relationships with staff, who are good role models. Staff get to know children well and interact positively with them as they play. This helps to develop children's emotional well-being.

Ofsted at CKC @ Bourn

December 2016

All our other clubs are rated “GOOD” by OFSTED.  We are still awaiting our first Ofsted inspection at CKC @ Histon
