We offer a breakfast and afterschool club for children attending Orchard Park Primary School on the school site. We also offer a holiday club to all children based at our site in St Luke's Primary School.

KS1 (Reception, Year 1, 2 and 3), children are dropped off to the Infant playground in the mornings and collected from the class teacher at the end of the school day. KS2 (Year  4, 5, 6) children make their own way from the breakfast club and make their own way to us in the afterschool club, as we are based in the schools community room.

What the club offers:

Orchard Park School

We are a self-directed PLAY based provision.

Play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated. That is, children and young people determine and control the content and intent of their play, by following their own instincts, ideas and interests, in their own way for their own reasons.

This is very different from the classroom environment, which can be (and sometimes needs to be) a very structured environment. We believe that after a long day at school or term of learning, children want to come to us to have fun and freedom in an unstructured self motivated way. Children will learn skills that they need in the growing up process, but in a different way to school.

The Breakfast Club

Breakfast School Club operates from 7.45am to 9am, Key Stage 1 Children will be escorted to their classrooms and key stag2 children are expected to walk to their classrooms by themselves.

Breakfast: We offer children a choice of a healthy breakfast each morning, which usually consists of a mix of Cereal, Milk, Fruit, Toast, Crumpets and water

The After School Club

After School Club operates from the end of the School day to either 4:30pm or 6pm, Key Stage 1 children will be collected from their classrooms by a playworker and key stage 2 children will be expected to make their own way to the afterschool club (internally through the school).

After School Snack: We provide all children with a light snack around 4pm, examples of what we offer include soup, wraps, yoghurts, fruit, squash and water.

Children who attend an extra circular club at the school will be collected by a playworker if they are in KS1 and a snack will be offered  to them when they arrive at the after school club.

The Holiday Club

We offer a holiday club from our CKC @ St Luke's setting, which is approximately 10 mins away. The holiday club operates from 8am – 6pm with a full and varied programme of activities and trips. Each week has a theme to it and the activities and outings are based around that theme. This will be emailed out to you around 6 weeks before the start of the holiday for you to book the specific days. For children staying all day, a mid-morning snack and a light afternoon snack is provided. We ask you to provide a pack lunch.

We currently have spaces in the afterschool club. We suggest that you enrol as soon as possible. Please see a link to our prospectus and our online booking portal. Please can I ask that you register your child/ren using the link below and request a "NEW CONTRACT" for your children.

General Information for Parents

Dropping and collecting children:

Children should be dropped off at the school main reception entrance via the car park. At this entrance there is a CKC doorbell and when rung a member of the CKC team will come greet you and let you in. CKC team member will sign your child into the club.

The same entrance is to be used by parents when collecting children from the afterschool club, parents will need to sign out their child when collecting them. This ensures we are able to track a child whereabouts in an emergency situation like a Fire for insistence.

Parent Partnership

Parents are at liberty to spend time with their children at any time during the sessions provided that it does not unsettle the child. The Club Leader, The After-School Co-ordinator and the director are always ready to discuss your child's progress and deal with any concerns you may have.

Each month we circulate a newsletter providing parents with up-to-date information on what is going on within the Cambridge Kids Club and matters of general interest.

The Club has formulated a set of policies relating to its approach towards issues such as anti-discrimination, child abuse, staff selection etc. Please feel free to ask for a set of these policies that will, in any case, be provided upon your enrolling your child.

Parents are encouraged to offer their time to take a session at the Club should they have any expertise or special interest which the children might enjoy hearing about.

What Parents and Ofsted Say About Us

Staff work effectively together and with parents and teachers. They share information about each child to make sure that they understand their individual care needs and changing interests. This helps staff to plan and provide consistency of care as children move between their home, school and the club.

Ofsted

January 2017

Indoors, children make independent decisions about what they want to play with or eat for snack. Staff plan play opportunities that children can extend using their imaginations and growing physical skills. Children enjoy helping to plan the snack menu, sharing their wide ranging ideas, resulting in opportunities to try sushi, fish sticks and exotic fruit.
