We offer a Holiday Play Scheme for the employee's of Addenbrooke’s NHS Trust.

While you are more than welcome to use any of our Holiday Clubs, the closest is CKC @ Queen Edith's which is a short distance from the main Addenbrooke's campus.

In the school holidays (including half-tern and training days) we offer a full varied programme of activities and trips. Each week has a theme with activities and trips based around it. For children staying all day a mid morning snack and light afternoon tea is provided. We ask all parents to bring a nutritional packed lunch for your child.

What the club offers:

Digging

We are a self-directed PLAY based provision.

Play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated. That is, children and young people determine and control the content and intent of their play, by following their own instincts, ideas and interests, in their own way for their own reasons.

This is very different from the classroom environment, which can be (and sometimes needs to be) a very structured environment. We believe that after a long day at school or term of learning, children want to come to us to have fun and freedom in an unstructured self motivated way. Children will learn skills that they need in the growing up process, but in a different way to school.

The Holiday Club

The holiday club operates from 8am – 6pm with a full and varied programme of activities and trips. Each week has a theme to it and the activities and outings are based around that theme. This will be emailed out to you around 6 weeks before the start of the holiday for you to book the specific days. For children staying all day, a mid-morning snack and a light afternoon snack is provided. We ask you to provide a pack lunch.

You can now make your Holiday Club booking completely online.

General Information for Parents

Dropping and collecting children:

Children should be dropped off at the community entrance just as you enter the car park. At this entrance there is a CKC doorbell, and when rung a member of the CKC team will open the door to let in.

The same entrance is to be used by parents when collecting your child, parents will need to sign out their child when collecting them. This ensures we are able to track a child whereabouts in an emergency situation like a fire for insistence.

FAQ

We know you will have many more questions. Some of the commons ones are asked on our FAQ page, however if you can’t find the answer here, please email or call us where we will be happy to help.

Parent Partnership

Parents are at liberty to spend time with their children at any time during the sessions provided that it does not unsettle the child. The Club Leader, The After-School Co-ordinator and the director are always ready to discuss your child's progress and deal with any concerns you may have.

Each month we circulate a newsletter providing parents with up-to-date information on what is going on within the Cambridge Kids Club and matters of general interest.

The Club has formulated a set of policies relating to its approach towards issues such as anti-discrimination, child abuse, staff selection etc. Please feel free to ask for a set of these policies that will, in any case, be provided upon your enrolling your child.

Parents are encouraged to offer their time to take a session at the Club should they have any expertise or special interest which the children might enjoy hearing about.
