Our holiday club CKC @ Wacky is open to all children and is based at Great and Little Shelford Primary School.
In the school holidays (including half-tern and training days) we offer a full varied programme of activities and trips. Each week has a theme with activities and trips based around it. For children staying all day a mid morning snack and light afternoon tea is provided. We ask all parents to bring a nutritional packed lunch for your child.
Cambridge Kids Club @ Wacky
We operate the holiday play-scheme from a mobile classroom based on the site of Great and Little Shelford School and the outdoor play is on the school ground (rain or sun). Like all our other clubs we operate the club based on 'Free Play' and children have choice on what activities they wish to do. We have a quiet area were children can do homework should they wish too.
Meet our Senior Play Leader: Adele
Club Address: Great and Little Shelford CE (A) Primary School, Church Street, Great Shelford, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, CB22 5EL.
Location in school
The mobile classroom is based on the site of Great and Little Shelford School. You can park on Church Street and walk up the path to the school reception, and turn left as you enter the car park. Follow directions to the Wacky Club.
You can park on Church Street when collecting your child/children.
What the club offers:
We are a self-directed PLAY based provision.
“Play is a process that is freely chosen, personally directed and intrinsically motivated. That is, children and young people determine and control the content and intent of their play, by following their own instincts, ideas and interests, in their own way for their own reasons.”
This is very different from the classroom environment, which can be (and sometimes needs to be) a very structured environment. We believe that after a long day at school or term of learning, children want to come to us to have fun and freedom in an unstructured self motivated way. Children will learn skills that they need in the growing up process, but in a different way to school.
